'E-waste' means electrical and electronic equipment, whole or in part discarded as waste by the consumer or bulk consumer as well as rejected from manufacturing, refurbishment and repair processes. E-waste, such as cellphone, laptop, CPU, contains harmful chemicals such as lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, beryllium or brominated flame retardants. Care must be taken to avoid unsafe exposure in recycling operations and leaking of materials such as heavy metals from landfills and incinerator ashes.
